Christina Guzzo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, at the University of Toronto Scarborough. She teaches virology to undergraduate students while also running a research laboratory focused on HIV/AIDS and human immunology. Christina was the UTSC partner lead for EcoSpark’s Sparking Science program in 2018.
Lynn Short is a Professor and Researcher at Humber College in Horticulture. She is also the owner of a cottage in Tiny Township on Georgian Bay, where she developed an innovative technique to remove invasive Phragmites (common reed) without herbicides. She trains other professionals, community groups and land managers in implementing effective Phragmites control using sharpened spades.
EcoSpark is partnering with Lynn, Humber Arboretum, and the City of Toronto to conduct citizen science Phragmites research with volunteers in Toronto parks and ravines.
