Wondering what monitoring “rot rate” entails?
Here's a step-by step-preview at one stream!
Step 1. Locate your first stream crossing
Step 2. Locate a downstream location (15m from the stream crossing)
Step 3. Record channel characteristics (wetted width and depth, substrate and stream flow)
Step 4. Record riparian vegitation and canopy cover
Step 5. Take a photo upstream and downstream at this location
Step 6. Deploy the cotton streams and the temperature logger
Step 7. Locate your upstream location (15m from stream crossing)
Step 8. Repeat steps 3 to 6!
