Wattwize is a hands-on educational program that can help you facilitate an electricity conservation program in your class, in your environmental club or council, or with your EcoTeam.

Throughout the program, EcoSpark supports you and your students with workshops, equipment, guidebooks, and handouts. Follow the links to learn more and to access the resources needed to implement the program.

The program (or in-class unit) consists of six steps:

  1. Introductory Workshops there are two introductory workshops, the first facilitated by a teacher, the second by EcoSpark staff;
  2. A School Electricity Audit run by the teacher and students
  3. Conservation Plan Creation
  4. Conservation Plan Implementation
  5. Measuring and Reflecting on Your Success
  6. Submitting Your Plan to the Conservation Champions Contest

Is your school outside the GTA? You can still participate!

Although EcoSpark is unable to facilitate workshops at your school, you can still use our teacher guide and this website to run an electricity conservation unit with your class. You can also use this program with your Environment Club or EcoTeam. Just follow the steps in the guide and on this website!

EcoSpark provides presentations that help you facilitate both introductory workshops. You can find these here. You can also submit your electricity conservation plan to the Conservation Champions Contest to win a monetary prize!
